Which Is The Best Movie Of The '80s?
Angoor is an '80s Hindi comedy film. It stars Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma, both in double roles. It was directed by the famous director called Gulzar. The movie is a remake of the Indian film "Do Dooni Char" which was, in turn, is a remake of the Bengali comedy film "Bhranti Bilas" (1963 ). It is based on Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar's Bengali novel by the same name. And that also is based on a Shakespearean play, "The Comedy of Errors".
All characters are innocent in nature, and destiny plays a significant role in bringing all characters to one place. The film is about pairs of identical twins who were separated at birth. And how their lives go crazy when they meet in adulthood in the film.
The parents, Raj Tilak (Utpal Dutt) and his wife (Shammi), go on a trip with their twins, whom they call Ashok. Because they look the same, they should be named the same is Tilak's genius reasoning. As fate would have it, they adopt another set of twins, both of whom they call Bahadur, and apply the same logic to it. An accident later divides the family, leaving both parents with one child out of each pair of twins.
A few years later, Ashok (Sanjeev Kumar) marries Sudha (Moushumi Chatterjee), and Bahadur (Deven Verma) marries Prema (Aruna Irani). They all stay together with Sudha's younger sister Tanu (Deepti Naval). Into their lives enter the other Ashok, a detective novel fan. And Bahadur, a bhang lover (an edible form of cannabis used in India). It becomes a task for their families, the Jeweller in the movie Taxi Driver and the Inspector.
